Young woman dies after being hit by bus at zebra crossing

AT 6.10 a.m. this morning (Mar. 12) a young woman was severely injured and later died after being hit by a bus at a pedestrian crossing in Phra Nakhon district, TV Channel 7 said.

The fatal accident occurred at Banglamphu intersection where Samsen and Phra Sumen roads intersect with the former heading towards Chakrabongse road in Chana Songkhram sub-district of Phra Nakhon district.

The deceased woman started crossing the road at the zebra crossing after air-conditioned bus number 6 that was coming from Phra Sumen Fort had turned right while heading towards Wat Chana Songkhram. As she continued doing so, suddenly the cream and red bus number 82 running between Phra Pradaeng and Sanam Luang slammed into her hard.

She was taken to Vachira Hospital where she later died.

In January this year a policeman speeding down the road on a big bike hit a woman doctor at a Phaya Thai road pedestrian crossing leading to her death.
