DEMONSTRATORS again staging a rally in front of Bangkok Remand Prison today (Jan. 6) jeered at Kla Party’s campaign team while welcoming Pheu Thai Party’s crew as both drove past within fives of each other, Matichon newspaper said.
The was rally organised by the the Songwriters for the People group to demand the release of political activists detained without bail, particularly protest leaders Mr. Parit Chivarak, or Penguin, Mr. Jarupat Boonpattararaksa, or Phai Dao Din, Mr. Anon Nampha, Mr. Panupong Chadnok, or Mike Rayong, Ms. Benja Apan as well as Mrs. Anchan Prilert, a former civil servant of the Revenue Department.
Pictures of arrested political activists were displayed and a vinyl banner put up with messages such as “Abolish 112,” “Release our friends,” and “Reclaiming justice for our friends.”
At 4.30 p.m. Mr. Chokdee Rompruek, or Alek, started singing some songs about justice and democracy.
However 10 minutes later a campaign vehicle of Pheu Thai party’s candidate in the by-election for MP in Laksi/Chatuchak Mr. Surachat Thienthong drove past, and the campaign team flashed the three-finger salute to the protesters which they welcomed.
Five minutes after that when the campaign vehicle of Kla Party candidate in the same by-election Mr. Attawit Suwanphakdi passed by, the protesters shouted “Feudalism be destroyed and people prosper” at the team.
