THE Chonburi Provincial Public Health Office said this morning (Jan. 5) that coronavirus cases are rising in thIS province with today’s tally being 529 cases and infection spreading in numerous clusters, Sanook.com said.
During the New Year holidays there were high incidences of infection at Tree Town market area, liquor stores and other crowded places. Those at risk were urged to undergo two ATK tests five days apart.
Omicron cases have also emerged in this province and as this variant spreads rapidly people are urged to avoid crowded places and refrain from socialising.
Details of today’s 529 cases are as follows:
1) Rayong residents seeking treatment in Chonburi, 18 cases, totalling 5,547, and from other provinces, 1,895;
2) Cluster at Mino (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Mueang Chon Buri district: 5 cases, altogether 37;
3) Cluster found through proactive testing at restaurants and alcohol shops in Pattaya, Bang Lamung district: 24 cases, altogether 261;
4) Cluster at Burapha University, Mueang Chonburi: 17 students, altogether 17;
5) Cluster found through proactive testing at restaurants and alcohol shops in Bang Saen area: 8 cases, altogether 11;
6) Risky profession, meeting lots of people: 25 cases;
7) Medical personnel: 17 cases
8) Reporting as coming from risky areas: Bangkok 4 cases, Kalasin province, 1 case, Khon Kaen province, 2 cases, Nakhon Nayok province, 1 case, Buriram province, 1 case, Pattani province, 1 case, Phang Nga province, 1 case, Phetchabun province, 3 cases, Phuket province, 2 cases, Roi Et province, 1 case, Songkhla province, 1 case, and Surin province, 1 case.
9) Contact with confirmed patients: within the family, 84, at work, 53, got close to them, 29, joined a party, 30.
10. Contact with confirmed patients (under investigation): 22 cases
11. Under investigation: 178 cases.
Meanwhile the Public Health Ministry said this morning there were 3,899 Covid cases and 19 deaths over the 24 hours to this morning, Amarin TV said.
This takes the cumulative confirmed total since April 1, 2021 to 2,210,612.
Of today’s batch of patients 3,648 emerged in surveillance and healthcare systems, 14 found through proactive search in communities, 68 fell sick in prisons and detention centres while 169 foreign arrivals tested positive.
Another 2,508 patients were cured taking total recoveries since April 1, 2021 to 2,155,403 while 34,877 are still undergoing treatment.
