Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak

All quiet after Myanmar junta’s armed helicopters attack Karen position

MYANMAR junta forces sent two armed helicopters to attack a Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) position and three villages from 1. 30 p.m. onwards yesterday (Dec. 27) but the battlefield turned quiet after 4 p.m., Sanook.com this afternoon.

Mainly soldiers were injured in the aerial attack but some civilians also died and got injured after their homes caught fire.

Panicked villagers flocked the Moei river bank and are waiting to cross to the Thai side but the situation is still observed particularly for signs of a ceasefire between the two sides.

The 14th Infantry Regiment had planned to repatriate the over 5,000 Myanmar refugees sheltering in Mae Sot district of Tak province today but is now assessing the situation and if nothing changes then they will be sent back in a day or two.

However amidst the stress from the fighting between the two sides is a heart-warming story. Facebook user Noi Ek Ruengpoi posted photos taken at Mae Tao Klang School in Mae Tao subdistrict, Mae Sot district, with these showing a short message that the refugees had carved at the corner of the school’s concrete yard before they left with this saying, “Hi 25.12.21 Thank you so much Thailand.”
