Thaksin urges Prayut to use military in pandemic situation

By Thai Newsroom Reporters

FORMER PREMIER THAKSIN Shinawatra today (July 26) urged Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to use the military in the sustained pandemic situation instead of letting them stay idle.

Speaking online via The Room 44 channel, Thaksin said he has been bewildered at the fact that the military have remained idle and looked indifferent toward the aggravated pandemic situation as Gen. Prayut has apparently chosen to not use them.

A huge sum of the state budget has usually been allocated to military units but Prayut has not sought to use any of it to add to the government’s efforts to combat the pandemic, Thaksin commented.

Prayut was army chief who staged the coup to oust Thaksin’s sister, Yingluck Shinawatra, as elected premier in 2014.

”If I were premier, I would not let the military stay idle and I would buy myself a PPE suit and go see patients. What kind of prime minister is one working from home?,” said the ex-premier, referring to the current one who has practically done so.
