Man drops dead at Bangkok convenience store

 

A 47-year-old Thai man suddenly collapsed and died at a convenience store in Chatuchak district of Bangkok this afternoon (July 25) with his body taken for autopsy to determine the cause of death particularly whether he was infected with coronavirus, TV Channel 7 said.

The sudden death of this man at the Ngamwongwan branch of the convenience store chain occurred after five homeless men were found dead on the streets of the capital over the past few days. A sixth Covid-infected man was rescued and taken to Police Hospital.

Pol. Lt. Thanaphat Chuatrakul, deputy inspector at Thung Song Hong station, rushed to the scene together with a doctor from Bhumibol Hospital and Ruamkatanyu Foundation rescuers.

At the store they found Mr. Chaturaphat (surname withheld) lying supine in front of the counter and they immediately cordoned off the entrance.

The store workers said the deceased man came into the shop and looked normal. He picked up antacid medicine and walked to the counter to pay and suddenly suffered chest tightness and collapsed. 

They immediately notified the authorities who said he had died. His relatives told police that Chaturaphat had previously undergone two heart bypass surgeries.

His body was taken to Bhumibol Hospital to determine the cause of death and particularly whether he was infected with coronavirus. After that his body will be released to his relatives for a funeral ceremony.
