THE full meeting of the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) presided over by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha passed a resolution to launch phase five easing of the coronavirus lockdown today (June 29), PostToday and Thai News Agency reported.
Dr Taweesilp Visanuyothin, CCSA’s spokesman, said Gen Prayut thanked officials and the public for having helped improve the coronavirus situation in the country.
The Premier also mentioned that it was necessary to extend the state of emergency decree by another month to control the coronavirus outbreak.
That phase five easing of the lockdown measures was approved was due to sympathy with low-income and jobless people, he said, adding that supportive measures had been prepared but everything depends on every single Thai citizen.
Under phase five relaxation of the Covid-19 measures all schools will be reopened while entertainment venues such as pubs, bars, karaoke lounges and beer halls can remain open till midnight but with social distancing and entry registration required.
Those who want to go have khao tom (rice porridge) as an after party supper would not be able to do so because no alcohol can be served after midnight.
Where massage parlours and tea houses are concerned, these business have to have a licence while patrons have to register via the Thai Chana application to go in. They have to wear a mask throughout while there except when bathing and the operators have to clean their premises frequently.
Moreover nine more border crossing points will be reopened for the transportation of goods to and from neighbouring countries. These are at Nong Khai, Loei, Tak, Mae Hong Son, Chiang Rai, Chanthaburi, Songkhla, Prachuap Khiri Khan and Kanchanaburi provinces.
