Convenience store manager held for selling drugs

By Thai Newsroom Reporters

THE WOMAN MANAGER of a 7-11 convenience store in Pattani was yesterday (June 6) arrested under suspicion of doing an unlikely business besides dealing in groceries – distributing speed pills.

Police arrested Chanida Chanthudom at one of the 7-11s in the southern province and seized 110 speed pills in her alleged possession in the storeroom. The convenience store is not only located in downtown area but in the premises of a vocational college.

The 31-year-old woman manager was seen most of the time ”working in the storeroom where special customers were allowed to get in,” the police said.

Chanida had allegedly told her clerks who looked innocent of the hush-hush drug dealing to let ”special customers” into the storeroom.

The police are yet to question all the clerks at the convenience store under suspicion any of them might possibly have been involved in such behind-the-scenes business.

Chanida allegedly started up as a drug user years before she ended up as a drug dealer, the police said.

Another suspected drug dealer, identified as Thirawut Sonsaengrat, was arrested on a road in downtown area. The male suspect, who had allegedly supplied speed pills to the 7-11 female manager, had intentionally dropped 600 speed pills on the side of the road just before the police showed up.
