PATTAYA BEACHES are reopening to members of the public on the upcoming Monday.
Pattaya City Mayor Sonthaya Khunpleum confirmed today (May 29) all the Pattaya beaches will reopen on condition that people strictly observe social distancing order and no group activity on the beaches is allowed for the time being.
People may swim in the sea or lie on the beaches or in beachfront canvas chairs with one being arranged about 1.5 metres apart from another, Sonthaya said.
The owners of the canvas chairs for rent will be strictly required to see to it that their clients do not stay too close to one another otherwise their business might be ordered to close, according to the mayor.
Nevertheless, no group activities will be allowed on the beaches for fear of a possible spread of the infectious disease, he said.
Pattaya beach, the most famous beach at this seaside city, is about three kilometres long and there is a shady road along the beach. The north beach is quite a quiet place that tourists like to go swimming and chilling. It is a centre of marine activities for those who come to rest such as sunbathing and water sports. The whole three kilometres along the beach is full of hotels, restaurants and souvenir shops. However, if you like a quiet atmosphere, the northern part of this beach is the best option.
Other beaches at this seaside city are Jomtien beach just to the south of Pattaya’s city centre; Dong Tan beach which runs south of Jomtien; Bang Saray beach which is the farthest south among all the beaches; and the beaches of Koh Larn and Koh Phai islands.
